Osteosarcoma in Dogs
Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone cancer in dogs that starts in a limb. It is most common in larger dog breeds. Canine osteosarcoma is highly malignant, meaning it spreads to other areas. It results in mortality in 100% of cases if not treated successfully.
Conventional medical treatments for canine osteosarcoma can include chemotherapy, radiation and amputation of the affected limb. About half of dogs treated with radiation and chemotherapy are still alive after one year. With conventional treatments for osteosarcoma in dogs, a cure is highly unlikely. The most effective method for relieving pain is amputation.
Because conventional treatments for osteosarcoma are so unsuccessful, alternative treatments like diet, herbs, supplements and detoxification should be considered and have been very successful in extending life.
